WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE AS A SURFER

My name is Ivah Wilmot and I am a ten year old Jamaican surfer. I’m a member of the well renowned Wilmot family who has stamped the Jamaican name into the world of surfing over the past few years. I have been surfing for seven years since it was not until I was three that my surfing life began. My father had carried me to a local surf spot, the Zoo, which is now very famous after my father Billy Wilmot had ridden the last wave there during the hurricane Ivan. After being knocked off the board and almost lost I became and still am stuck with surfing.

I am a student of the Excelsior Primary School where I am currently in grade 5. My hobbies include surfing, skate boarding, playing the guitar, track and field, reading, watching TV, playing online games and foot ball.

In 2003, I placed 1^st in the Jamaican under twelve division. This was when I was 6 years old. In 2007, I received 3^rd place in the same event.

In the future, I would like to become a professional surfer but I need the equipment such as surfboards and leashes to do so; I also need to enter many surf competitions all around the world to earn experience and exposure. One of my greatest desires is to travel the world to surf all kinds of spots especially Bali, Fiji and the rest of Indonesia.

I want to achieve greatness as a surfer and to become one of the best the world has ever seen.

Also I need to go far in school and get lots of good grades practice my school work

And all the other stuff. I’m not the best in my class and I need to take extra lessons but I have four siblings and my mother can’t afford it. That’s one of the reasons I need the scholarship. Other than being a pro surfer I also would like to be a sergeant or something like that. I would be great full for the scholarship cause of the money my family really need the money
